Meet June & Gem Studio!

Founder

Ashley Grammer

I had a whole other life before becoming a ceramic artist full time! I was a hairstylist for 14 years, a student for 4 years, then a visual art teacher for 3! I was searching for my passion for a long time. When I finally discovered the art of ceramics I was hooked. It's the one art practice that can actually hold my attention. I have ADHD so sticking to one thing is a CHALLENGE! My pottery journey began with making little ceramic cats because I'm a die hard cat lady. I've made sooooo many little cats and can't get enough! Eventually I knew I wanted to share my passion for ceramics with others. I chose to trust in myself and build the kind of space I had always wished for.

June & Gem Ceramics Studio is more than just a studio, it's a community. It's a place to make new friends, share ideas, inspire each other, and find joy in the process of creation. My goal has always been to build a warm, welcoming environment where anyone, whether you're picking up clay for the first time or you're a seasoned artist, can feel at home. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to share my passion with all of you!

I've always been interested in ceramics, even as a kid. Growing up in New Mexico and Colorado, I was introduced to Native American pottery and the beauty of handbuilding. Once I was in college, I became more interested in wheel throwing. Now, I'm inspired by it all, and I can't wait to introduce you to clay and the beauty of what you can make in ceramics.

Hi, I'm Kris! I've worked as a production ceramicist specializing in handbuilding personalized ceramic heirlooms like ornaments and platters. I also have my own home studio with a wheel and a kiln where I taught myself how to throw! I believe there's a form of ceramics for everyone, whether it's working on the wheel, or pinching a pot. I'm super excited to share what I've learned and to introduce others to the world of pottery! Let's make something together!

Kassidy Kliewer

Hi! My name is Kassidy. I started my clay journey in 2019 at Minnesota State University, Mankato where I graduated with degrees in Art Education and Gender and Women’s Studies. I fell in love with throwing clay on the wheel during an exploratory class in college and have been passionate about it ever since. One of my favorite parts of working with clay is the range of possibilities and interactions that glazes can have with each other in a kiln, I find it so exhilarating because pieces can look completely different than when you put them in. I can’t wait to work with you at June and Gem!
