Hi, I’m Ashley, the owner of June & Gem Ceramics Studio!
At home, I live with my two adorable cats, Peach and Charlie, and my wonderful husband, Zach. As a lifelong cat lover, most of my artwork naturally ends up being cat-themed.
I’m usually working behind the scenes, but sometimes you’ll find me teaching classes on how to make little ceramic cats, which are my favorite to create! I love making mini ceramics and have a soft spot for pink, whimsy, silly things, houseplants and coffee. Owning a studio in Historic Downtown Snoqualmie has been an absolute dream come true, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a supportive and creative art community!

Hey I'm Kris, your new friend to nerd out about clay with! I've been working with clay since 2022 after making a career change away from the science field. I was inspired, like many others, after watching The Great Pottery Throwdown. Seeing all those home potters make such beautiful and creative pieces was what I felt like I needed in my life. Now, I'm a pottery instructor at J&G and starting my own business to sell my work!My favorite part about teaching is watching my students grow as artists: when they get their lump of clay perfectly centered for the first time, make their first mug, or when others start asking them what glaze combo they used. I especially love teaching the 6 week courses because I get to see my students go from never touching clay before to making what they want and feeling confident in themselves. I believe that ceramics is the perfect blend of art and science. Even if you don't consider yourself artistic, it's worth a try. Because there's something for everyone in pottery and there's a place for anyone in our studio.

Hi! My name is Kassidy and I am a teacher and studio tech at June and Gem! My specialty is wheel throwing, but I love to dabble in some hand built projects too. One of my favorite parts of doing ceramics is seeing how cool the finished piece looks after the glaze firing. When I’m not working at the studio, I’m hanging with my dog, Rigatoni and my cat, Sophia. I can’t wait to meet you!

I'm Kellie! I've always been interested in ceramics, even as a kid. Growing up in New Mexico and Colorado, I was introduced to Native American pottery and the beauty of handbuilding. Once I was in college, I became more interested in wheel throwing. Now, I'm inspired by it all, and I can't wait to introduce you to clay and the beauty of what you can make in ceramics.

I'm Bunk, a Snoqualmie-based ceramic artist. I use handbuilding techniques to create organic forms rooted in a specific location in time. I incorporate foraged materials throughout my process, drawing from my experience as an herbalist. In collaboration with the natural world and through a practice of slow making, I seek to disrupt a cultural estrangement from the raw materials extracted to build our world.

I'm our live in studio assistant! I'm an artist through and through. I'm currently going to school for massage therapy and have a dream of working in theatre. My goal is to be a lifeline for the community, helping people feel safe and cared for. Creating spaces for self expression and holistic healing. Also, Hank and Dolly are my kitties!

Maggie

Studio Assistant & Kris' Wife

Pronouns: She/They

Birthday: November 2nd

Sign: ♏️ ☀️Scorpio sun ♓️🌜Pisces moon ♍️📈 Virgo rising

Heyooo, I’m Maggie! I’m Kris’s wife and the Saturday morning tech at J&G. I love our little queer community at the studio and I love pottery. I took my first pottery class on my maternity leave almost two years ago, and even though I don’t make a high volume of pieces, each one I do make is with TLC 💜 I alternate between hand building and the wheel, and my style pretty is whimsical and eclectic. I love layering and mixing textures with pops of color, and bonus points for sick underglaze transfers. Volunteering at the studio every week and being surrounded by creativity is my escape from the 9-5 grind. You might also see our son Wesley in the studio supervising and trying to cuddle on the cats. I’m inspired by all the instructors and staff at the studio, and I’d love to eventually build my own pottery brand and be a silly safe space for all the gays, theys and neurodiverse babes! 🏳️‍🌈

Studio Assitant

Pronouns: She/Her

Birthday: August 4th

Hi, I’m Gracen! I grew up in Snoqualmie Valley and attended the local High School where I first found my adoration for pottery. I’ve always leaned on art as an outlet, but pottery was a whole new obsession I didn’t know I needed. No matter what era my life was in, I could always count on the clay to bring me back to my center. June & Gem has just been another astounding example to me of how art can bring together a community and heal an individual.

We are the owners of Worthy of good, a trans and disabled owned creative brand led by two queer artists. We make tender ceramics, stickers and reminders for folks who've ever felt like they had to shrink themselves to fit in. We create from a place of softness, honesty, and care because we believe everyone deserves to feel seen, safe, and worthy of good things.  This little dream of ours truly began to blossom, thanks to Ashley, who gave us the space (literally and emotionally haha) to grow into ourselves as artists and as people. We’re endlessly grateful for that opportunity, and we carry that spirit of support into everything we make.

Hank & Dolly

Studio Prince & Princess

Pronouns: Hank: He/Him, Dolly: She/Her

Birthday: April 23rd, 2024

Sign: Taurus

Hank & Dolly are siblings! Hank is an absolute angel!  He's a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. He loves pets and rolling around on the floor. He often likes to visit during classes. He's obsessed with shredding toilet paper, so he banned from the bathroom.

Dolly is a shy lady, so you may not see her much, but once she comes out of her shell she demands love and affection. She's the studio sponge thief and will rip them to pieces if you leave them lying around, so keep an eye on your sponges!
