Frequently Asked Questions
Here you can find answers to some frequently asked questions!
FAQ:
1. Q: What should I wear to a pottery class?
A: Clay washes out of your clothes so you can wear whatever you want, but we suggest wearing something you don't mind getting dirty and something comfortable. We don't currently provide aprons, so if you'd like to wear one, please bring one with you!

2. Q: Can I still take a class with long nails and jewelry?
A: Yes! However, if you have long nails and are ok with cutting them short then we recommend doing so! Working with clay can be challenging with long nails, but not impossible! We also recommend removing any jewelry such as rings, bracelets and watches. But if you can't remove your jewelry then it's ok! It might make things a little harder, but you can definitely still do it!

3. Q: What if I can't make it to a class I have booked?
A: We recommend reading over our cancelation policy!

4. Q: Can I still take a class if I'm allergic to cats?
A: Yes! We have a studio cat, Sophia, that comes Friday-Sunday from 12-4pm, but outside of those hours she's not at the studio. If you have allergies to cats and are attending a class during the time she is typically there, please give us a 1 day heads up and we will make sure she's not there during your visit!

5. Q: Do you have pottery for sale at the studio or is it only online?
A: We have pottery for sale in the studio and online! You can find our online shop here!

6. Q: Do you offer firing services?
A: Yes, however we only offer firing services for small batches and smaller items. We do not accept pieces that are over 10 inches in size. We bisque fire to cone 04 and glaze fire to cone 5. We do slow glaze firings. We bisque fire every Thursday and glaze fire every Sunday. You can find more information on firing services here!

7. Q: Can anyone purchase clay from you?
A: No, the clay we sell at the studio is reserved for studio members and staff only.

8. Q: Are you a safe space for queer, BIPOC and neurodivergent communities?
A: YES! We pride ourselves in being a safe space for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and neurodivergent communities! We take this very seriously and have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination or shaming or any kind. We welcome you as you are!

9. Q: Wheel classes are for ages 16 and older, but will you make exceptions for someone younger?
A: Sort of! We do allow ages 14-15 to attend our wheel classes if someone 18 or older is registered and participating with them. We can't make exceptions for those under the age of 14. This isn’t just a formality, it’s a decision we made after a lot of experience and care. Wheel throwing requires a level of strength, coordination, and patience that can be really challenging even for adults. We've found that students younger than 14 often end up feeling frustrated or discouraged because their hands and bodies just aren't quite ready for the physical demands of the wheel. We truly want every student who takes a class with us to have a positive and empowering experience and waiting until they're a bit older helps ensure that.
10. Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes! Currently, we ship to the United States, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. Shipping ceramics internationally costs anywhere between $20-$70.
11. Q: Does anyone at your studio accept custom pottery orders?
A: Yes! Our instructors Kris, Kassidy and Kellie accept custom orders! You can find their information here.

12. Q: Do you offer paint your own pottery (PYOP)?
A: Yes, however it's not available just yet! It's coming this Spring! Our PYOP is a little different. We offer midrange, handmade mugs, bowls and cups that are thrown by one of our studio artists for you to paint. We do not use low-fire slip cast pieces like you’ll typically find at most PYOP studios. The biggest difference is that your piece will be fired at a higher temperature, which causes the glazes to move more than low-fire glazes. Because of this, detailed illustrations and super fine lines tend to turn out more soft and blurred rather than crisp. We recommend choosing designs that do not rely on tiny details or sharp lines. When the time comes, we will offer PYOP on Sundays from 12–4pm only. This is because our main focus as a studio is on creating pottery, not just the painting process.
